Hello! We've moved our blog... Our new blog will be located at carterfold4.blogspot.com. Thanks!
So we are moving next week. We had so much fun moving when Jack was eight weeks old that we have decided to do the same with Emory. We are off to the great state of Kentucky. We'll be moving to Owensboro, better known as hometown to Jonny Depp and Jon from The Real World. We are most excited that David will not have to travel anymore and that we will all be together as a family. Jack has been talking about the new house and has somehow gotten the idea that there will be an ice cream truck there (he has never patronized an ice cream truck so who knows what that is in his imagination). These are just some random photos from the last week or so as we get ready to pack this circus up and head to the bluegrass state.
Jack got is first haircut this weekend. It was a monumental event. My biggest fear was the disappearance of the little cluster of curls at the back of his head. We waited a long time for this haircut. Jack worked hard to grow that hair and we hated to see it go. However, it got to the point where it was becoming a borderline safety issue as he would have to stop mid-frenzy to brush the hair from his eyes or ears. He looks like a little boy now but the woman who cut his hair saved the little bundle of curls for me and put them in a plastic bag. I'm glad to have them but a little unsure as to what to do with them...
Here is a pic of Emory at one month and Jack at one month. They are so different from the way they look to their personalities. Emory got a good report from the doctor at his one month visit. He's up two pounds and two inches in a month. We've started to see some smiles from him and he makes little noises as well. Every time he hears his own voice, he startles himself. His eyes get big and looks right at you to see if you noticed it too. It seems like time is moving so much more quickly with this baby and we're not nearly as anxious for all those milestones. I just want to enjoy his baby-ness for as long as I can.
Here are some pics from the last week. David has had to be out of town some and so I was here alone with both boys. It went smoothly at times and at other times seemed to go catastrophically wrong. The important thing is that we all survived which ultimately became my only goal. Emory is still being a great little baby. He gets up a couple of times at night to eat and goes right back to sleep. Jack is also getting better at being gentle. When I carry Emory in the Baby Bjorn, Jack comes up every few minutes to kiss his toes.
Last week, my mom came to stay with us and she was a huge help. We have really been lucky in all of the help we've had from our families. AnnMomma and Grannelle saved us these past three weeks.
Emory's first week at home was an eventful one with lots of company. Jack is really interested in Emory and we are working with him on how to be gentle. Jack's impulses are to grab little Emory and squeeze him just as hard as he can. It's a bit stressful at times but we are getting better day by day. Emory has been a very easy baby so far. He sleeps and eats well and only cries when he needs something. He is definitely a lover and is happy as long as he is being held and cuddled.
He's here!
